Showing that you are willing to learn new things and do courses can certainly impress and will not do any harm at all. It should help to increase your confidence in your skills as well which will be great for you.

If you feel more confident in your ability it will show in the quality of work you produce and your attitude and so it can have more gain than just the specific skills that you learn on the course itself.
