If you want to get in to project management then obviously this would be the first step to moving forward in your career. You would then need to get some actual project management experience, perhaps by working as a project co-ordinator or by shadowing a project manager for a while.
It can, however, be a great qualification for anyone to have. Often in companies, these days at least, they are cost cutting by taking out certain management levels. This could mean that you will end up project managing a project as well as working on it because there are not the funds to afford two people to do this.
This is the sort of situation where having project management qualifications can really help you.
If you get the opportunity to have this sort of work experience and have the qualifications, it means that there is a chance that you might be upgraded to a project manager if any jobs do become available in the future.
Having project management skills is great as well because it should help you to do you own jobs better. You will learn people management skills as well as how to manage workloads and all of these skills are really useful in any job.
It means that you will be better able to manage your time, get your work done more quickly and therefore not have such a big backlog. It may also mean that you have more time to be able to spend more time on certain things which will be good.
It should help you get less stressed, and generally work much better. It should enhance your quality of life as well as making you a much more valuable employee and a more employable person should you want to change jobs.
